In July of 1979 El Burrito Mercado began its journey in a tiny little shop in the West Side of St. Paul. The West Side’s immigrant community continued to flourish and with the ever-increasing number of Mexicans and Latin Americans, the need to preserve their culture also increased. It had been a dream of Tomas and Maria Silva to own a business through which they could help others meet whatever needs they had. So with this scenario they began El Burrito Mercado.
