| During the 1970's, neighborhoods established a network of community clinics throughout the Twin Cities to provide accessible, low-cost health care to individuals and families. In 1971 a group of neighborhood activist, public health officials and Macalester College staff and students began planning to address the health care needs of the thousands of young adults living, working and going to school in the Macalester/Groveland area of St. Paul. Family Tree Clinic was the result of that planning. From the beginning the Board of Directors expressed a strong interest in providing community health education as well as medical care. Family Tree is continuing mission is to provide affordable, confidential, accessible reproductive and sexual health care, education and referral services in a respectful and caring environment to diverse communities |
