| This parent/child class is for youth 4 years to 15 years old. Depending on age and desire, children will either paddle in a stable kayak by themselves or in the lap of a parent. We will introduce you and your child to the basics of getting into and out of a kayak, fundamental strokes necessary to paddle and turn a kayak, and what to do in the event of a capsize. We will start with a brief introduction to sea kayaks and basic equipment, then go for a paddle and play some on-water games. This is a semi-dry class; we will not be doing wet exits or rescues. Bring a change of clothes for you and your child as you may get wet playing the on-water games. |
