Dr. Hakala received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1975. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, and the American Back Society, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. He taught clinical radiology at the University of Minnesota and taught orthodontics for twelve years for the United States Dental Institute.
